Marketing in Action

Porsche have recently expanded their car range with the launch of the all-new Cayman S. This 2-seater hard-top is in essence a Boxster with a roof on it, or a "911 Light." 

I'm a great believer that the most effective methods of communication inform the recipient. It should always inform about what the benefits of the product/service are - that could be low price, space to get the whole family in the car or whatever else it may be. Communication that simply gets the name in front of people without communicating benefits can be missing a trick. 

So David Cameron has been elected Tory leader - something that several months back would have been inconceivable. This is because, we are told, his "marketing" has been better than his rivals. As ever, marketing has been used as a synonym for only one of the 7 Ps - Promotion. But what of the other 6? 

Now that my website is up and running, I'm very keen to monitor its effectiveness. As with all marketing, if it's not working then you should either a) Scrap it or b) Work out why and then improve it. 

Is it just me or are Yahoo!'s new generation of adverts just downright annoying? I have Yahoo! as my homepage so that the news and sports headlines are in front of me whenever I switch on Internet Explorer. If anything catches my eye I read it.
